Incontinence/Leakage
I leak pee.. what can Healthy Pelvy: Pelvic Floor Therapy do to help me?
We thank you for trusting us with your treatment. Urinary incontinence or leakage is one of the most frustrating and upsetting symptoms our patients will have. And also it is one of the most dismissed symptoms. Often patients are told “well, that’s just what happens when you have babies” or “when you get older, what do you expect to happen?”
It is such a relief when patients finally come to us and realize that they don’t have to experience leakage.
Our treatment starts, as all do, with assessment. We try to identify your specific causes of leakage. This is via review of symptoms - when it happens, how much, sensation, etc. This is also via internal pelvic floor assessments to see if there are anatomical changes that impact your symptoms (is your bladder positioned lower leading to incomplete emptying? Do you have difficulty engaging your muscles of your pelvic floor?) Also, we assess what the other muscle groups are doing. Are your abdominals engaged in a helpful and functional way? Are you using your legs and glutes appropriately or are they being underutilized and thus the pelvic floor is overcompensating?
There’s a lot at play for leakage! We create a specific plan of action to address your symptoms so you can live your life with more ease and less discomfort and frustration!
